best week of my life.

1st:

My relationship with my parents have skyrocketed to a whole new high. everything's great between us, the communication is there and there is understanding from both parties. It's amazing.

2nd:
Got into UCR. will be living there next semester while taking nursing classes to brighten my future and secure my financial stability.

3rd:

Was a part of an event called "Displace Me 2007" by the organization, "Invisible Children" We made our own 'tents' out of cardboard and slept outdoors under the stars to raise awareness about the invisible children in Gulu and Uganda. These kids are poverty stricken, more susceptible to AIDS, and the boys are threatened to be part of the LRA (Lord's Resistence Army) who corrupt their minds and torment the Acholi people. It's inspiring and quite a humbling experience, you never really know what you have until you witness, empathize, and relate with someone who has nothing. I witnessed thousands of people come together for a cause that's greater than themselves. We got 3 packs of crackers and 1 liter of water, had 21 minutes of silence to pray and reflect on the 21 years Uganda has been in war, there was time to write letters to the senate explaining how thousands want them to do somethig, and we danced, because the Acholi people love to boogie. There is a movie that i watched before which prepared me for what was to come. If you're interested in watching it, let me know...

Now for pictures.

thanks anonymous! Makeup application #1

So thanks to anonymous and Christa, i'm gonna post a couple of blogs about makeup application. i'll be using my face to show examples! aAHHHAHH! i might even ask some of my beautiful friends to be models. :) so get ready friends.

here is my "bare face to fresh face" debut. this is the most natural and easy face to put on. It's everyday wear. Nothing too drastic, it's a face to apply to go to an interview, or to school and work. More or less, it's the enhancement of natural beauty.

1. Start with a clean face. If you have dry skin, apply a moisturizer and let it absorb for 10 minutes. (Cetaphil lotion works really well)

2. Now grab a sponge and apply foundation to the face to even out the skintone.

3. Now dot and dab concealer. (do foundation first because if you do concealer first, your sponge will just wipe off the concealer) use a concealer brush or your 4th finger to blend concealer with skin. (Concealer is Sephora's concealer pallate)

4. Now apply powder with either a sponge or a brush ( i like to use a Kabuki brush for the most coverage. i obviously don't have porcelain skin)

5. Take a fluffy brush and tap into bronzer for contouring. I go from the cheekbones to the temple and then along the jawline. (MAC bronzer in "Bronze" + Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Bronzer)

6. then smile and apply blush on the apples of your cheeks. (MAC "Slave to Love")

7. Now grab a highlighting brush and apply on the inner corners of the eye (tear duct) and underneath the brow bone. (MAC "Honey Lust" )

8. Apply two coats of mascara (Maybelline "Lash Discovery" )and lipgloss (Victoria's Secret gloss in "I Want Candy") and viola.

proud to be a Filipino

i swear to you, there are 2 things that bring Filipinos together in complete unity...

the first being God,

the second being this man:

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won against undefeated Solis last night with a KO in the 8th round.

Up to the 8th round, Pacquiao threw 516 punches to Solis’ 351 and had a slight edge in rate of connection, 32 to 29 percent. He landed 140 punches, including 109 power shots and Solis, only 63.

Here's to good food, great company... and being Filipino.

LUPANG HINIRANG

(PRESENT DAY VERSION)

Bayang magiliw,

Perlas ng Silanganan,

Alab ng puso,

Sa dibdib mo'y buhay.

Lupang HInirang,

Duyan ka ng magiting,

San mamlulupig,

Di ka pasisiil.

Sa dagat at bundok,

Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,

May dilag ang tula

At awit sa paglayang minamahal.

Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y

Tagumpay na nagniningning;

Ang bituin at araw niya,

Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim.

Lupa ng araw, ng Luwalhati't pagsinta,

Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;

Aming ligaya, na pag may mang-aapi,

Ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo.

Corinne and John..

their concert was freakin amazing. i loved every minute of it. happened last week but i didn't post so... here goes. i couldn't get a great night shot because of my dumb camera. Corinne Bailey Ray opened up for John Legend and sang all my favorite songs. She sounded exactly like her album, her voice is so amazing... and she was kicking the poop out of the chair she was sitting on.

got there early. we were kinda far, so the pictures might be a bit blurry, and you can't see their faces.

"Trouble sleeping"

"put your records on"

John Legend:

he was a lot better than i anticipated. Hot too. he had a lot of sex appeal and really worked the stage. he opened with "Heaven" which began a really great concert. i was impressed. :) he got me dancin and clappin...

"Save Room"

"I used to love you"- such a great song

Then He and Corinne sang a duet of "Where is the Love"... beautiful.

They should get married and have really talented beautiful babies.

pick up stix. scrummmtulescent... and a rental manager.

so today i went to Pick up Stix in Long Beach with Ande and Ema. Lots of laughs in our short adventure. It only lasted for an hour because Ema had to go to work. (My friend is a graphic designer at the L.A. Times, by the way!) We talked about Ande's boyfriend David - who's really sweet! i'm really happy for you Ande... you deserve to be happy, you're too wonderful to not be. I'm glad that you're sharing these feelings with someone special.

So check it...

really really candid shots

Emaline.

Ande.

not a good picture but... whatevs.

yummy yumm yum. Mongolian beef.

chopsticks and Ande did not mesh well together.

and i drooled from laughter.

i love catching up with people that you haven't seen in a while. i love hearing about the differences in their lives from the last time we spoke, and the constants that remain within the person that encouraged a friendship in the first place. there are certain people in your life that you can instantly reconnect with while there are others that you can live without forever. i hate hating people. i cannot stand the the feeling of animosity or awkwardness that i get when i see people that i do not get along with, and even more when i see the ones acquainted with them. i'm trying to be a better person by not holding grudges anymore.

anyway, it was really windy. and i'm starting my diet tomorrow. 20 pounds man...

FRUSTRATION!

seriously...

thrift store chic---nice and cheap.

i love finding things. when i was a kid, i used to search around for rolly pollys and set up little farms for them. After getting older, my taste in searches have become a little more refined. i loooove going to thrift stores and getting the most unique and one of a kind thing there. i have found a lot of things that have come into season at thrift stores and shops like the buffalo exchange. Jewelry and purses as well as coats and t-shirts are my greatest finds at thrift stores and swapmeets, you'll never see some of these things at forever 21's or windsor's. don't get me wrong, I adore Nordstrom and H&M, and even discount stores like Ross and Marshalls. I specifically search for uniqueness, and i think i've done a pretty good job at my selections. it takes a lot of patience when youre looking for a needle in a haystack. I have no shame that i buy nice clothes for less. it's better than buying ugly clothes for more!

my favorite thrift stores are in Long Beach on South and Cherry (i believe) and a variety of goodwills all around long beach, fullerton, la mirada... anywhere that gives me reason to drop in.

i have found a marc jacobs shirt, a diane von furstenburg wrap around dress, michael Kors sweaters, banana republic turtlenecks, Japanese pencil skirt... look lemme show you

Burberry scarf ($60)

The wrap around dress (approx. $20.00)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Oscar de la Renta skirt ($8.00), Nordstrom sandals ($15.00)

Got this purse... ($3.00)

i love this necklace ($6.00)

Gold Clutch ($4.00)skirt from the Philippines ($?) Banana Republic turtleneck ($7.00)

i really do believe that the girl makes the clothes. the clothes don't make the girl. i don't think that you need to pay a lot of money to look good. but there are things you should invest in... like a nice fitting and good quality blazer, a pair of black pumps, or a white button up blouse- things that will never go out of style.

i got this outfit for...

hahhaa.... i'm not gonna tell.
