itching

i'm itching for fall. i'm super over summer and the heat and the frustration. i want cooler weather so i can wear my new super sloucho boots, oversized cardigans, ankle boots with skinny jeans, wide legged trousers, indigo shadow, shrunken blazers, scarves galore, and my lame leggings with everything and anything. oh yeah... and hats. gahhh!

operation "grow out hair" is definitely in effect. i need starbucks. extra extra shots. studying all day and night long. tomorrow is the last day of summer school. and i'm stokies.

finally: lashes!

if you were born with short stubby slick straight lashes like me, there is a solution that only involves a $6.00 tube of eyelash glue and long flirty dramatic lashes. needless to say, it can be a true test of patience and skill to put them on properly without getting your eyes accidentally glued shut. so, here is a quick picture tutorial on how to apply false eyelashes.

bare face. ahhh! i'm scared too.
always start with a bare canvas, to make sure there isn't any crazy dirt and residue on your face that may come into contact with the glue, which will then come into contact with your eye, that can get irritated and pink.

not cute.

after moisturizing and applying primer (Benefit's That Gal primer) I applied concealer and powder to set (L'oreal's True Match in "True Beige", and MAC's studiofix powder in "NC42", respectively). i didn't apply foundation because it's wayyy too hot at the moment in California, and plain and simply, i don't want my face to melt mid-day.

see: short almost hairless lashes.
i put a soft shimmer (MAC's "Naked Lunch") on my lids, followed by a liner (MAC'S Fluidline in "Blacktrack")i like to line my eyes with a slant brush (Mark.) in order to give me sort of a guideline to where i want my lashes to go.
here is a lash with no glue on it. i think i got these lashes from the Norwalk indoor swapmeet. a steal for only a dollar! you can also get good cheap lashes at E.L.F cosmetics (at participating food for lesses) as well as the drug store, which has a good variety of short and denser, more natural looking lashes. go to MAC or sephy for overtly dramatic showgirl lashes for a crazy night on the town, or if you're just into that.

measure the falsie against your eye and clip if necesary. if it is too long, clip from the inside corner. not the outside.
apply a thin layer of glue (DUO eyelash glue in dark tone). i tend to add a little bitty drop more to the ends, only because they come undone the quickest. wait 15 seconds for the glue to get tacky before applying or else you create a big ol' mess.

start from the outer corners making your way in to the inner corners. pressing gently and feathering the lash upward simultaneously. the positioning i like to use for the lashes is right above my natural lashline. there is a slight fold on my eyes that holds in snugly in place.
one down. one more to go. don't worry about the glue being a little wet. it will dry dark and will be hardly noticeable, but if it still bothers you, we can fix that later.
look at the difference. haha... i look crazy.

repeat on other eye and...
voila. so if the glue did not dry in a way that you fell completely satisfied by, then the easiest solution is not to take the lash off and start again. just grab your eyeliner brush and reline your eye. definitely make sure your lashes are superly dry though to ensure that there are no further mess ups. a little patience only does you good.

so finish up with blush (NARS in "Orgasm" ) and lipgloss (Mark. lip tint) and you are fantastically confident to conquer the world .

had to throw this one in there...
i'm lucky... he loves me with or without em.
